Nigeria Non-Oil Taxes: Collects ₦109.6trn in 12 years

Nigeria has now collected the sum of ₦109.6 trillion from non-oil tax in 12 years.

This was reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in a document titled: “Tax -To- GDP Ratio.”

The document included a proper breakdown of the revenue that the Federal government generated from the non-oil tax.

According to NBS, in 2010, Nigeria earned N6.8 trillion, in 2011, it earned N9.4 trillion, while in 2012, it generated N8.4 trillion.

The report continued that in 2014, Nigeria collected N9.2 trillion, it earned N7.8 trillion in 2015, and N7.1 trillion in 2016.

In 2017, the nation was able to generate N8.7 trillion, N10.6 trillion in 2018, and N12.5 trillion in 2019.

The document by NBS, titled “Tax -To- GDP Ratio.” also did a breakdown of the revenue generated from oil tax.

According to the document, Nigeria generated ₦25.1 trillion between 2010 and 2021.

Nigeria collected ₦1.4tr in 2010, ₦3.1tr in 2011, and ₦2.6tr in 2013.

It continued that Nigeria earned ₦2.4 trillion in 2014, ₦1.4 trillion in 2015, and ₦1.2 trillion in 2016.

NBS stated that the country collected N1.5tr in 2017, N2.5tr in 2018, N2.1tr in 2019, and ₦1.6tr in 2020.
