LIRS Implores Businesses In Lagos To File Tax Returns Before January 31

Companies and employers of labour in Lagos have been implored by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) to file their yearly tax returns to avoid being penalized.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Mr. Ayodele Subair, stated in an official statement released by the agency, according to the Head, of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude that to avoid getting penalized and sanctioned, companies and employers of labor have to file their yearly tax returns before January 31, 2024.

As the deadline steadily approaches, Subair stresses that business in Lagos must file their yearly income tax returns using the LIRS e-Tax portal, as manual filing is no longer acceptable.

According to him, the LIRS e-Tax portal (https://etax.lirs.net) is easy to use, convenient, and safe, so employers have nothing to worry about when they use it.

He continued that the portal is so great that numerous tax transactions can be carried out on it from anywhere they are.

He mentioned that employers were previously implored to generate a taxpayer ID for their employees (where applicable) and remit their P.A.Y.E. returns using the LIRS e-Tax portal.

This is a compulsory step for every employer filing their yearly income tax returns on the e-Tax portal.

He concluded that employers who refuse to comply will have only themselves to blame.
